Scripting

Hideout is a cozy pixel-art game you play with friends, right inside Discord and in your browser, for free. Scripting is how you make your corner of it actually do things. A door that opens, a scoreboard that counts, an NPC that talks, a game of tag: all of it is built by snapping colourful blocks together. There's no typing real code, and no experience needed.

If you've ever built with LEGO, you already get the idea. Each block is a piece. The pieces only snap together in ways that make sense, and you stack them up to describe what your world should do. Here's a real one, the block that runs the instant your world starts up:

When Room StartsA block. The first piece of almost every script. It fires the moment your world loads.

Where to go next

The golden rule

Every script answers one simple question: “When this happens, do that.” Once that clicks, you can build anything.

Block snippetOne trigger on top, a few steps underneath. Swap the parts and you get a whole different world.
